Spend and Be Spent

Spend and Be Spent

Who and what are we giving our lives to?

The verses from the NT reading in today’s Daily Office challenged me today:

“I seek not what is yours but you. For children are not obligated to save up for their parents, but parents for their children. I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls. If aI love you more, am I to be loved less?” 2 Corinthians 12:14-15

Here are Oswald Chambers’ comments on these verses:

“The real test of the saint is not preaching the gospel, but washing disciples’ feet, that is, doing the things that do not count in the actual estimate of men but count everything in the estimate of God. Paul delighted to spend himself out for God’s interests in other people, and he did not care what it cost.”
